Watercolor Painting
This is the final painting of four that I have completed as Christmas presents for this year. It feels good to get this accomplished
This again is done in the style of Ukiyo-e which I enjoy very much. The painting was mostly done with Derwent Watercolor Pencils

These are lovely - lucky recipients! The Derwent Albrecht Durer are the watercolor pencils I tried first (lately working with F-C Polychromos), but your Ukio-e paintings show me how much more they can offer me than what I've done. Such a gift for me too! Happy Holidays.

ReplyDeleteVery nice, Terry. I like the way you signed your paintings with your name looking like Chinese characters and of course the added seal. BTW, what does it say? I have about 10 different ones I use in my Chinese brush paintings.

ReplyDeleteI bought the chop (seal) in 1984 in Chinatown in Vancouver. It translates as "Every Day Is A new Start".
I belonged to a drawing group at that time and we came across a Chinese artist who ended up giving us free Chinese Painting Lessons which was a wonderful experience.
He sold his work at Stanley Park, and set up there every day during warm weather months and painted all day on the spot.
Thanks very much Phyllis, the Derwent watercolor pencils have opened up some new doors for sure.
ReplyDeleteI think they would be better suited to a very smooth watercolor board/paper. They are somewhat of a challenge to use with the texutred papers that I used for the four watercolors done recently.
